Through our laboratories in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin and Auckland (LABTEC) we test soil, water, air and emerging contaminants for environmental consultants, government agencies, industry, and individuals. Fast turnaround, accurate results, and responsive service are what we're known for — and what our clients consistently tell us matters most.
Quarantine Approved Premises: Our Sydney and Perth (MPL) laboratories hold permits to import waters and soils from all countries under Australian biosecurity requirements — enabling international sample analysis for clients operating globally.
Our History
A Big Vision From a Small Beginning
Envirolab was founded in February 2005 with a clear vision - to build a different kind of environmental laboratory, one that combined scientific rigour with genuine client service and a people-first culture. What started as a single Sydney laboratory has grown over two decades into Australia's largest privately operated environmental laboratory network, spanning eight locations across the country.
2005
Envirolab Services founded in Sydney establishing a new standard for responsive, quality-driven environmental testing in Australia.
2010
MPL Laboratories (Perth) joins the Envirolab Group — extending national reach into Western Australia and broadening the group's specialist capabilities.
2014
MPL achieves first NATA accreditation for Amoebae detection in Australia — using PCR with full speciation of Naegleria fowleri and Acanthamoeba.
2020
15th anniversary of Sydney laboratory operations. Envirolab Group is now operating across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Darwin.
2025
Acquisition by Intertek Group plc — Envirolab Group joins one of the world's leading total quality assurance providers, strengthening capability and global reach.
