Envirolab Group is pleased to announce our Perth laboratory, MPL Laboratories, is now NATA accredited for Carbon and Sulphur analyses in Sediments, Sludges, Soils, and Ores using the LECO solid analyser.
Effective, Thursday 14 October 2021, this test-flow provides an in-house capability for Sulphur analysis as part of Acid Mine Drainage workflows. The instrumentation uses a very robust combustion methodology and can also measure forms of Carbon in solids, particularly for sediments where other traditional approaches are prone to interference from Chloride. The analyser is very efficient and therefore improved turnaround times can be achieved.
Following the rigorous NATA assessment, the scope of accreditation has been extended to include:
Product |
Determinant |

Sediments; Sludges; Soils; Ores |
Carbon - Total; Carbon - Total inorganic (TIC); Carbon - Total organic (TOC); Sulfur. |

The detailed current scope of accreditation of MPL Laboratories can also be found in the NATA website directory.
The company is pleased with this achievement and would like to extend a special thanks to Emma and Stacey from the Acid Sulphate Soil department, Michael in Inorganics and Laboratory Manager, Michael Kubiak.

Significance of NATA Accreditation in laboratory testing services
NATA Accreditation provides independent assurance of technical competence through a proven network of best practice industry experts. This accreditation is highly regarded as it formally recognises facilities across a range of industries that provide excellent standards of service in reliability, safety and efficiency in technical services.
The accreditation is granted to laboratories in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 (2017) and the service-specific criteria, which is determined via an on-site assessment of resources, procedures, and documentation. As part of gaining accreditation, MPL Laboratories was required to demonstrate competency in performing all activities included within the concerned class or field of accreditation.
