Envirolab Services is proud to have been part of 'Your Future in Science Festival' – a celebration and career expo for new science graduates.
This initiative was organised by UNSW's Science Faculty and Alumni & Engagement last week, Wednesday, 21st November 2018. Attendees were able to find out more about what a career in science could be like, get hot tips and insider information on how to get a foot in the door and make invaluable connections with key industry representatives.
On top of the education, information and networking, it was also about taking time to enjoy the event with some nibbles and lucky door prizes. Proudly, our team hosted a booth at the event, which was managed by team members, Souraya Jumaah and Leon Ow of Envirolab Services Sydney.
As a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Science, in 2018 and now a Laboratory Technician at our Sydney laboratory, Souraya provided insight and chatted with eager students about opportunities for those transitioning from education to employment.
“Some students and graduates have some idea about what they want to do when they finish their studies, but there are still some trying to figure it out,” said Souraya.
As a team member who has also quickly risen within the organisation, Chemist, Leon also provided attendees with advice and answered burning questions.
“It’s important to never give up, no matter the obstacles and it's worth researching the skills and qualifications you need to succeed. Attending these events is the perfect place to start,” added Leon.
