Tania Notaras

Founder & Executive Director

With over 36 years of experience in the scientific domain, Tania Notaras stands as the founder and chairperson of the Envirolab Group of Companies.

As a dedicated steward of our company's mission, Tania plays a pivotal role in providing strategic oversight and governance. With a commitment to upholding our core values and standards, she guides the company’s direction in maintaining its ethical compass and staying true to its founding principles. While not directly involved in day-to-day operations, her focus on governance ensures that our initiatives align with our long-term vision, promoting sustained growth and excellence.

Tania's journey commenced in 2005 with the establishment of Envirolab Services, and the subsequent acquisition of MPL Laboratories in Perth in 2010 marked a pivotal moment in the company's expansion. Along with business partners John Notaras, David Springer, Jacinta Hurst, and the dedicated team, Tania has played a pivotal role in transforming Envirolab into a thriving, multi-million dollar enterprise. Today, Envirolab's laboratories and offices span Australia and New Zealand, consistently delivering reliable, high-quality professional testing services for the environment and OHS/WHS sectors.

In July 2023, Envirolab welcomed a new era with the appointment of Karl Cope as CEO. Tania's transition from Managing Director to Chairperson reflects her dedication to the company's continued success. While not directly involved in day-to-day operations, my commitment lies in maintaining the integrity of our brand, fostering a culture of excellence, and steering the company toward sustainable success through thoughtful governance practices

Tania's commitment extends beyond business to supporting student programs, sponsoring technical and professional meetings, and holding senior leadership roles in the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI). Serving as President of the RACI NSW Branch from 2016 to 2018 and as an Ordinary Board Member, where she continues her service on the Finance and Risk Committee, are notable milestones in her journey.

Accolades such as the UTS Alumni Award for Excellence – Faculty of Science in 2022 and the Weikhardt Medal for Distinguished Contribution to Economic Advancement underscore Tania's contributions to the field of chemistry. Bestowed with the distinguished title of RACI Fellow in 2016, her dedication to advancing the practice of chemistry and supporting the scientific community remains unwavering.

As a Women in Business Mentor, Tania aspires to motivate and provide insights for successful leadership and goal achievement. Being a Telstra Business Women's Awards Finalist reflects her commitment to challenging the status quo and building stronger, more productive, and more relevant business communities in Australia.

Beyond the professional sphere, Tania's love for adventure is evident in her various expeditions, including successfully climbing Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Whether sailing on the vessel Paradise or spending quality time with her family, friends, two beloved puppies, and new grandchild, she finds joy in a well-rounded life.
