Tania Notaras

Founder & Executive Director

With over 36 years of experience in the scientific domain, Tania Notaras is the Founder and Director of the Envirolab Group of Companies.

A dedicated steward of the company’s mission, Tania plays a pivotal role in providing strategic oversight and governance. While not involved in day-to-day operations, she ensures that Envirolab stays true to its founding principles and core values. Her focus on governance and ethical leadership supports the company’s long-term vision, driving sustained growth and excellence.

Tania’s journey began in 2005 with the establishment of Envirolab Services. The acquisition of MPL Laboratories in Perth in 2010 marked a major milestone in the company’s expansion. Alongside business partners John Notaras, David Springer, Jacinta Hurst, and a dedicated team, Tania helped transform Envirolab into a thriving, multi-million-dollar enterprise. Today, Envirolab’s laboratories and offices span Australia and New Zealand, consistently delivering high-quality testing services for the environment and OHS/WHS sectors.

In July 2023, Envirolab entered a new era with the appointment of Karl Cope as CEO, enabling Tania to transition from Managing Director to Chairperson. In July 2024, Amanda Cole was appointed Chair of the Advisory Board. In May 2025, following Karl's departure to take on a role with an ASX-listed company, David Springer accepted the role of CEO.

Tania remains committed to preserving the integrity of the Envirolab brand, fostering a culture of excellence, and guiding the company through thoughtful governance.

Her dedication extends beyond the business. Tania actively supports student programs and sponsors technical and professional meetings. She holds senior leadership roles with the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), having served as President of the RACI NSW Branch from 2016 to 2018 and as an Ordinary Board Member. She continues to contribute through her role on the Finance and Risk Committee.

She also serves as a UTS Ambassador and member of the UTS Faculty of Science Industry Advisory Board.

Tania’s contributions to the scientific community have been widely recognised. She received the UTS Alumni Award for Excellence – Faculty of Science in 2022 and the Weikhardt Medal for Distinguished Contribution to Economic Advancement. In 2016, she was named a Fellow of the RACI.

As a Women in Business Mentor and Telstra Business Women’s Awards Finalist, Tania is passionate about inspiring future leaders and fostering strong, inclusive business communities across Australia.

Outside of work, Tania enjoys an adventurous and fulfilling life—climbing Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, sailing aboard Paradise, and spending treasured time with family, friends, her two grandchildren, and her beloved puppies. She finds joy in a well-rounded life.
